Snapchat Mercury Planet – Meaning, Rank & How It Works
The Mercury Snapchat Planet represents the first position in Snapchat Planets. If you see Mercury when checking your friendship with someone, it means you currently rank as their closest Best Friend based on Snapchat interactions.
Mercury is the highest position in the Solar System, but your position can change as your Snaps and Chats with that person change.
What Is the Mercury Planet on Snapchat?
Mercury is the first planet in Snapchat’s Friend Solar System, a Snapchat+ feature that represents the eight Best Friends positions with different planets.
If you are represented by Mercury, you hold the number-one position in that friend’s Solar System. This means you are currently the person they interact with most among their eight Best Friends.
What Mercury Says About Your Friendship
Mercury shows that you have the highest interaction ranking with that person at that time. It can indicate frequent Snapping and Chatting between you and your friend.
However, Mercury doesn’t measure how long you’ve known someone or how strong your friendship is outside Snapchat. It represents your current Snapchat interaction position.
How Does Snapchat Assign the Mercury Position?
Snapchat assigns the Mercury position based on your place among a person’s eight Best Friends. The people they interact with most through Snaps and Chats appear in the Friend Solar System.
How Best Friends Are Ranked
Snapchat’s Best Friends list is based on interaction. The eight people a user Snaps and Chats with most can appear as their Best Friends.
The person with the highest interaction ranking receives Mercury, while the remaining positions continue through Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Snaps and Chats With Friends
Your activity with a friend can affect your position. Frequent Snaps and Chats can help keep you high in their ranking.
The exact position isn’t permanent because other friends can also change their interaction levels.
Why Your Mercury Position Can Change
Mercury represents the first position at a particular time, not a permanent friendship status. If another person becomes more active with your friend, your position could change.
Likewise, if you interact more frequently and remain their highest-ranked Best Friend, you can continue to appear as Mercury.
How to See the Mercury Planet on Snapchat
You need access to the Friend Solar System feature to check your planet position.
Open Your Friend’s Friendship Profile
Open Snapchat and go to the friend’s profile whose Solar System position you want to check.
Their Friendship Profile contains information about your connection and may show the Best Friends badge when the relevant feature is available.
Find the Best Friends Badge
Look for the Best Friends badge on the Friendship Profile. This badge is connected to the Friend Solar System feature.
If you have access to the feature, you can use the badge to check your position.
Tap the Badge to See Mercury
Tap the Best Friends badge to view your planet. If Mercury appears, you hold the first position in that friend’s Friend Solar System.
If another planet appears, your current ranking is represented by that planet instead.
What Does the Mercury Snapchat Planet Look Like?
Mercury is shown as a small planet representing the first position in Snapchat’s Solar System.
The visual design is based on Mercury, the first planet from the Sun in our real solar system. Snapchat uses different planet designs to make each Best Friends position easier to identify.
Is Mercury the Best Planet on Snapchat?
Mercury is the highest-ranking planet in Snapchat’s Friend Solar System because it represents the first position.
It doesn’t necessarily mean you are someone’s best friend in real life. It only shows that you currently have the highest interaction ranking among their eight Snapchat Best Friends.
Mercury in the First Position
Mercury is number one in the Friend Solar System. Venus follows in second position, while Earth represents third.
This makes Mercury the closest position you can have in the Solar System.
Mercury vs Venus and Other Planets
The main difference between Mercury and the other planets is the ranking they represent.
| Planet | Position |
| Mercury | 1st |
| Venus | 2nd |
| Earth | 3rd |
| Mars | 4th |
| Jupiter | 5th |
| Saturn | 6th |
| Uranus | 7th |
| Neptune | 8th |
Mercury means you rank higher than someone represented by Venus, Earth, or any of the planets below them.
Does Mercury Guarantee a Close Friendship?
No. Mercury shows a high level of Snapchat interaction, but it doesn’t guarantee a close personal friendship.
You may Snap and chat frequently with someone without having the same level of connection outside the app. The planet only reflects the Snapchat ranking.
Can Your Snapchat Planet Change From Mercury?
Yes. Your planet can change when your interaction ranking changes.
If you become less active with that person while they interact more with someone else, you could move from Mercury to Venus or another position. If your interaction increases again, you may return to Mercury.
